The Days of Being Stagnant

Have you ever felt like no matter what you plan for the days ahead that you cannot get motivated to do it?  Maybe, you have experienced this before, you make plans to meet a certain deadline or meet a friend for lunch and you are ahead of schedule, but you still don't have the energy to get moving.  This is a case of the "stagnant blues" and we got it bad.  There are several categories that we can classify this behavior in such as, procrastination, and laziness, last but not least, no motivation.

Do you often wonder what causes this behavior?  I think about this question quite often,  in my case it has to do with alot of what is going on in my personal life.  Sometimes life can have such a grip on us that we do not want to do anything or communicate with anyone so we can think about a plan to get us out of the situation we may be facing.  Oftentimes, I will find myself so engrossed in what's going on with me that I have a smile plastered on my face without anyone detecting that I'm going through at the moment.  Have I programmed myself to react this way or is it the Holy Spirit?  I'm going with the latter the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the Prince of Peace, there is a calmness that surrounds you and can go unnoticed at times.  I welcome this feeling any day and any time.

Sometimes, God is requesting some GOD101 Time to bring you back into His presence.  Every now and then we will step out of His presence and start doing fleshly things.  We are so consumed that we are unaware that we are trying to do things on our own without seeking God first.  When this happens to me, I end up making things worse than they were because I took my eyes off of God and started looking down.  Whenever, I feel myself sinking I always think about Peter how he took his eyes off of Jesus.  This is a dangerous position to be in if you ever find yourself here.  My suggestion to you when you are in this place is to snap out of it and do not give into it.  You could lose things or let go of things that you were not supposed to let go of.  For example, I have a situation that involves letting go of my house and moving back to Massachusetts.  The feeling is not strong which lets me know that this is not the plan for me. This decision came from me wanting to give up and go back to what I know and what is familiar to me, because I do not want to continue to go through what it is that God is taking me through.  I'm resisting the teaching and calling that is placed on me by giving to the flesh.

Stagnation is a form of paralysis if not monitored.  We have to stay prayed up and in the Word daily to prevent from becoming paralyzed.  Whenever I become so motionless I reflect back to what was the first thing I did when I woke up that morning.  If I didn't read my bible I can guarantee you that my thoughts will have a field day in my mind...the thoughts are so intense, that the way that I talk starts to change.  Not that I walk around saying "praise the lord" in every sentence which is fine too for those of you that talk like this.  My speech change by not being as optimistic or talking with assurance like I normally do.  I'm talking like I have given up and ready to pack it in.  Yes I even start to have a pity party (smile).  It is so bad, anyone that knows me will turn around, stop in their tracks and ask where is my faith and what has gotten into me.  I'm human and there are tough days that we all will bear, but knowing what I know and where the Lord has brought me from is out of the norm for me and my speech.  The Lord has been too good to me and my family for me to think that I shouldn't go through any storms.

The next time you recognize that you are stagnant in your thought process and decision making, make up in your mind that this will not be one of those days of stagnation and get motivated.

Scripture:  Procrastination...."Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work" Acts 4:34 (KJV)

Mid-Life Changes and Moves

How do you know when it is time to make a career move?  Are there any true signs to prompt us to make a career move?  Over the past 5 years I have made some changes and moves when it came to my career. Where I am today I never imagined that I would be doing what I am doing now.

For over 20 years I worked in Corporate America holding several administrative positions. My aspirations were to retire and live the rest of my days off of my retirement and 401k pension. I dreamed of retiring with my husband, having grandchildren, and traveling when and whenever I felt like it. My dreams were like the average persons' dreams 20 years ago.

As I matured, my career path shifted in another direction. The sudden change was unexpected but not unbelievable. For the past 4 years I worked in Commercial Real Estate which I know now was a stepping stone to get me to the next phase in my  career. After
working in commercial real estate, I worked in the Mortgage Industry as a loan officer for 3 1/2 years. I saw myself doing well in this field, my goal was to pursue becoming a Branch Manager and someday owning my own mortgage brokerage company. This was my purpose in life, to help others.

Needless to say my career focus changed again. What got my attention this time was how my plans changed and the direction I was moving in. Don't get me wrong I loved what I was doing, this time circumstances played a part in the career changes. Reality set in I figured at this stage of my life I would of been settled and know which direction I was heading in. If I would have seen the upcoming turn of events ahead of time I wouldn't of been as adaptable as I am now. Being adaptable comes from maturing and not having too many options.

After being out of work for a couple of months, I had to re-evaluate my career options again. The question was what do I do now? For the past 7 1/2 years I worked in real estate. What was it about working in real estate that made me happy. The only explanation that I could come up with was that I enjoyed working with people! The next question was what can I do to continue helping and meeting people. Remind you at this point in my life job hopping is not an option. I'm not a young woman who recently graduated from college trying to find her place in Corporate America. Anyway, back to the question what do I do now?  From what I mentioned earlier, you know that I enjoyed working with people but what was it in particular that I enjoyed.

When I worked in the mortgage industry I worked closely with paralegals and attorney's scheduling closing dates, settlement statements, and requesting title searches. Reviewing my role as a loan officer led me to continue my education with studies in paralegal. Currently, I'm enrolled in school online which by the way is a whole new world to me. Once again, if I would of seen this change coming I wouldn't of been able to adapt to it easily. Since I have been in school I have noticed a lot of changes pertaining to my career. There are so many options and fields that I can go into other than being a paralegal. My major is in Criminal Justice which gives me the career choices of being a probation officer, sheriff, police officer, juvenile advocate etc. However, going back to school isn't the final destination for my career.

While writing this blog I had an epiphany that what I am experiencing as far as my career is best described as Mid-Life  Changes and Moves. This journey that I am traveling, has begun five years ago.  Before traveling along this road that I am on I also envisioned opening a Christian Store. One of my visions for the store is to have a website and blog page to stay connected to my customers. Can you see why and how the title fits to what I have told you so far? (Smile)

Stay Blessed

Can We Shop and Where?

Joan River's used to have one question that took off like a rocket back in the 80's.  The question was 'Can We Talk'?, when she asked that question that meant that she was ready to talk about the subject at hand. Joan gave you the do's and do not's about what was trendy or gaudy when walking on the red carpet.  She was the personal shopper to the celebrities only they didn't know it.  If Joan didn't like it, you read and heard about it in People Magazine or on her television show.

Todays' latest trend when it comes to shopping is right at your fingertips.  With online shopping you can be your own personal shopper without having to worry if it's a do or don't. Another bonus with online shopping is not having to rush out to the mall before the sale ends, or fret about the store selling out of your size by the time you get there.  Since online shopping has become the latest trend the question that a lot of people are asking now is 'Can We Shop and Where'?

One of the online shopping web sites I had an opportunity to check out and was pleased with what I have seen, can be found at http://www.become.com/. Become Shopping Your Way is the only way to shop. RepairPal is User Friendly for Women

More than 10 years ago car maintenance used to be a repair that men of the household took care of.  It was unheard of for a woman to take the family car to the shop for repairs.  Women didn't have a clue as to what to tell the mechanic what the problem was let alone describing the funny noise that it was making. If women knew the mechanics full name, shop address, and location they were doing good, that meant that they were in tune with their husbands and a part of the decisions when it came to car repairs.

All of that has changed since then, today some women are the decision makers in most households and have become experts when it comes to describing the funny noises that the car makes. Don't get me wrong there are some women who are old school and continue to look to the man of the house to handle the car repairs. Which is great too. This tool I'm referring to more so applies to the women who are the head of their households and the decision makers when it comes to car repairs.

There is a friendly tool for women that makes it a little easier for us to budget for car repairs. The tool is called RepairPal Car Care Confidence. RepairPal is your online car care handy tool. There are some helpful tabs on the web site you can get answers on for your car needs. You can get an estimate, find a shop, car information, and find a tab titled MyCar.

RepairPal gives you featured listings on repair shops along with the phone numbers in the area you are searching. To test how easy this search would be I checked the Phoenix, AZ area. In the browser I typed http://repairpal.com/phoenix-auto-repair and began to search for the top rated repair shops and mechanics in Phoenix.  The search brought up the following shops 'National Automotive Repair', 'Fairway Auto Repair' and 'H & M Motorworks' all 5 star rated. I couldn't believe how handy this information was. I will definitely refer this web site to family members and friends when it comes time for car maintenance. The next time you are in need of some car care maintenance go to your computer and type in the browser area http://repairpal.com and get started.

I have included 3 more links for you to check out. Try it today and start saving thousands of dollars on auto repairs. Refer your family and friends now.

Remembering

Have you ever had those days when you felt like God has removed His hands off of you?  As soon as you came out of one trial another one was there waiting for you.  Sometimes, you start to think maybe you were wrong about the purpose or call on your life that you heard from God.   When we start to get these feelings and thoughts this is when we need to remember all that God has done in our past and present.

Remembering the goodness and all that He has done for us should make us want to dance, dance, dance, all night.  Our faith is being tested, this is not a setback this is a setup for our promotion.  Our trials are stepping stones to grow us nearer to God.  We tend to want God to use us to be a blessing to someone else but we don't want to go through the testing.  I started to name the title of this blog as "Sustaining Your Faith Through It All" but after thinking about all that God had has done for me and my family, choosing the title "Remembering" is more appropriate.

How can God use us when all we are doing is murmuring and complaining, then we let our tongues loose by saying "if it's not one thing it's another" we need to be conscious of what we are saying and start thanking God like we already have what we have been praying for.  Some people get confused and get things twisted when they say, we are not supposed to think about the past, we are to look ahead.  True, the difference between remembering and thinking is when you start dwelling over the past.

Every time I take a walk in my neighborhood and see For Sale signs in lawns, I remember His goodness.  When I read the newspaper and see the foreclosure percentages climbing daily, I remember all the times that I have been shielded.  The next time you start to have a pity party remember where you could of been and be thankful for where you are now.

Scripture: ....the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.  John 14:26 (KJV)
